The first contest.

I was nervous we waited in the back room for contestants with Valerie sitting on my shoulder and Manny on my lap i was trying to fix the tie i had on when Gwen walked in through the door.

"Hey kiddo,you excited?"She asked petting Valerie's head.

"yeah but real nervous you don't mind talking Valerie to the stands do you?" I said picking her up

"Not at all,Your Mom called there watching in Jhoto they got a whole new satellite just to watch you on T.v"


"great i hope we do well....there there are some cool pokemon here i saw some guy with a Glaceon and leafeon."


"Cool,Well i got to go its looks like the appeal round is about to start here take this."Gwen held out a small case looking thing.

"Its a Seal put it on Manny's Pokeball and when he comes out stars will circle him."

"Thanks Gwen"i said as she walked away Valerie on her shoulder.

a voice came over the PA and told coordinators to be ready.I picked up Manny and brushed his fur and went over the plan.this was it.

[Chronos]

''The cheers ans excitement are lauching, it can mean only one thing... Get ready for Hearthome City Pokémon Contest!!! The waiting is finally over and you'll soon see that it was all worth it! Ladies and gentlemen, as you all know, we're coming to you live from Hearthome City, the town of warm and kindness! Sit back and watch our fabulous contestants amaze you with their gorgeous techniques! And just take a look at what our winner pokémon contest coordinator will recieve: the prestigeous Hearthome ribbon!

Now, it is my distinct honor to introduce you to our impressive panel of judges! First of, our hand judge, Contesta!''

''Hello! I'm sure that today's contest will thrill us all!''

''Next, from the Pokémon Fan Club, mister Sukizo!''

''Remarkable!''

''And finaly, she came directly from our Hearthome's PokéCenter, Nurse Joy!''

''I look forward to a great event! And I wish every one the best of luck.''

''Please allow me to introduce myself as well! I am your humble host, Mariane!!!''

The crowd went wild on every word the hostess said. Meanwhile, the contestants were all ready, in the waiting room, looking on the screen, trying to see when will their turn be.

First it was Andrew Berry's turn. Some guy with a Mankey. Did not do so well.

Then Rachel, a girl with a beautiful Rapidash, blazing the audiance in applause.

''And now, for our third contestant, Callum Porter!''

I Stepped out from behind the curtain Manny's pokeball in hand the cheers all around the stadium filled my ears i saw Gwen in the front row Valerie dancing on her lap.

"Manny take the stage!!" I called letting him out stars sparkled around him as he let out a call with a smile.

"Alright Manny lets use mud sport and it freeze it with Powder snow!"

Manny used mud sport and shot it right in the sky i began to fall and he quickly used powder snow and the falling mud froze mid air and began falling faster

"Great now tackle the shards of ice and land!"

He jumped up and missed the first shard but hit the rest dead on they all shattered leaving sparkles falling all around him

He landed and we both posed for the judges and waited for there response.

[Chronos]

Contesta ''Even though Manny missed his first shot, the rest was splendid!''

Sukizo ''Swinub! Remarkable!''

Nurse Joy ''Who would've expected such sparkling amazement coming out of a ground move! It was so much fun!''

The crowd cheered: they loved Manny.

''Now, let's keep moving with more fun! Next contestant, you're up!''

There was about 10 more contestants before knowing who will the round 2 competitors be.

We waited anxiously in the back room staring at the T.v Waiting to see who the 2 round winners were.
"You did great Manny"I said petting his head

"swii"He cheered as he nuzzled my face.

"Alright then the next contestants are........."

Carchar VS Sandra!

Rachel VS Callum!

A red haired girl entered the room. She looked at the board and smiled. Then, her eyes fell upon Callum. She walked towards him.

"We're against eachother, eh? You Swinub did great, by the way."

"Thanks you were amazing!this is actually our first contest"I said patting Manny trying not to sound nervous

Inside i was very nervous Rachel seemed to be doing this for a long time and her Rapidash was very good at the appeal round and not to mention the type advantage fire over ice.

We were called back to the stage.It was now or never.

[Chronos]

"Here we are: almost half-way through the competition! Here will be chosen our finalists for the next round! Barry won the last round, but who will be competing against him? That what we'll see... Now! Callum and Rachel are ready with Fafnir and Manny. Ice-type and fire-type? This is ought to be interesting! The count down begins in 5... 4..."

Rachel looked very sure of herself. Before the countdown finished, announcing the begining of the battle, she said:

"Y'know I won't play soft on you because Manny is an ice-type, kid. Though, I can let you begin."

She smiled, offering Callum to go first.

The type disadvantage worried me.being offered to go first was no expected i thought about it and tackle would be the best choice seeing Manny could not use ancient power to it's full power.

"Manny use tackle but spin while you attack!" i called trying to add style to the attack.

[Chronos]

"Fafnir, quick, use ember and dodge!"

Without waiting a second, the Rapidash blazed fire from its mouth, aiming Manny who got hit directly in his spinning process. The fire hit Manny fiercely, but even if the little pig pokémon got hurt, it continued to twirl, making the ember circle around him. The fire horse jumped over the Swinub, dodging what was left of the tackle.

"Wow! Even if Manny got hurt, it still continued to spin 'round, causing the fire to twirl around its body!"

"Manny's doing pretty good, Porter!"

"Alright Manny try again with the tackle and keep it up with the spinning technique!"I Called still nervous if worse came to worse I'd would have to get Manny to us ancient power to the best of his ability.

[Chronos]

"Twice the same move? You'll have to use more originality, kid... Fafnir, now, Flame Wheel!"

The Rapidash's fire mane grew very intense and surrounded him with a blazing sphear.

"This is absolutely beautiful! Fafnir is controling its flame wheel attack perfectly!"

Manny tried to stop his dashing tackle, but unfortunatly couldn't. He hit the huge fire ball, and got burned very badly.

"Incredible! Fafnir's flame wheel is acting like a wall against the poor swinub!"

Manny was on the floor, having a hard time to get up.

"Come on, abandon now before your pokémon gets any more hurt!"

But Manny was standing up now, ready.

"Very well, then! Fafnir, dash towards Manny!"

The flaming ball was gallopping very fast towards the Swinub.

I was in a bind.but there was no way we were gonna give up thinking fast it came to me!

"Manny dodge and use powder snow just above her so it melts into water!!"

"SWIIIIIIIII" He cried as he charged was it gonna work.

[Chronos]

"Oh look! Manny is now charging hopelessly towards the raging Rapidash! What does Callum have in mind?"

The Swinub was dashing towards Fafnir, determinated to make it work. He jumped at the perfect time to dodge the flame wheel and opened its mouth to prepare powder snow. But something strange happened then.

Manny's body started glowing blue-ish.

"SWIII!"

And a torrent of shiny white snow came out of his mouth.

"Wow! I never saw such a powerful powder snow in my entire life! It is like a blizzard, but perfectly well controled! It's as if Manny combined two attacked at the same time! It is sparkling beautiful!"

The snow cone entirely swallowed the Rapidash's fading fire shield, making it break and melting at the same time, which dropped a considerable amount of water on the fire horse.

"Rapidash, no!"

"Time's up! Let's see both contestants' points."

"And our winner is... Callum Porter, from Johto! And Manny the Swinub!"

The crowed roared with applause.

"MANNY WE DID IT!"I cheered running up to him and picking him up with an embracing hug,we were absolutely thrilled but it wasn't over yet we still had one more challenger then we would see if we won our first contest,but we were filled with confidence and ready to go!

[Chronos]

Rachel walked towards Callum while both were entering back the waiting room.

"I was really impressed kid. I had trained my Rapidash hard for this, and a little Swinub had the strenght to get in our way. Your Manny is going to be a tough pokémon, I hope you know that! I and also hope you know that I will want a rematch sooner or later!"

She smiled, knokwing that she might've made a good friend.

"And... what was that about: a blue aura surrounding him when he did the powder snow? It's like if his power amplified because of that! 'Cause normaly, Powder Snow wouldn't have even hurt Fafnir..."

"I really don't know how that happened i think it might have been adrenaline or something"i said petting Manny's head.

"But I do hope we can have a rematch one day"

She walked away and i was left there waiting to be called back to stage for the finals who would have thought our first contest could have be the winning one.

[Chronos]

"And now, for our final battle... Our two contestants, Carchar and Callum are called at the arena!"

When both entered the place, the crowd cheered and the judges clapped.

Carchar was a boy, around 17 years old. He look somewhat experienced (maybe because of the little scar he had on his left eye). Dark hair, black and blue outfit, very stylish... He was sure of himself.

"May the coordinators engage their pokémon!"

Without saying a word, Carchar threw his pokéball in the air, which twirled and opened, letting a fearsome Croconaw come out.



"...NAW!"

"come on out Manny"I called throwing his poke ball in the air he landed just as before with the star all around him.

the boy nodded his head allowing me to go first

"Start with powder snow!"I Called

[Chronos]

Manny jumped with style and opened his mouth to hurl a cone of snow towards the gator pokémon.

Carchar smiled.

"Croconaw, run towards the snow cone and use rage!"

"Naw!"

As his trainer said, the Croconaw rushed forward. While running, he tightened his jaw as a sign of the Rage attack. The powder snow hit him directly on front, but he continued to rush faster and hit Manny with a powerful jab, which propelled the little pig pokémon a few meters away. Many got really hurt.

"This is incredible! Croconaw started building rage before getting hit by the powder snow, so it could use double power to hit his opponent! And ice being a good resistance for the water pokémon, Croconaw got nearly hurt at all!"

But Carchar wasn't going to get much point, for the attack wasn't so stylish.

"Croconaw, use water gun and bite at the same time!"

The pokémon opened large its mouth to let a huge jet of water come out, then it snapped his jaw a few times on the jet so that it becomes large water bullets instead of just a straight jet.

"Manny freeze them with powder snow then jump on them then use a full power tackle attack!" Manny did just that the powered snow came from his mouth and quickly each of the water bullets froze mid air and began to fall but before they could Manny hoped on them one after another then went in for the tackle.

[Chronos]

Manny hit the frozen bullets so hard that they exploded one by one, making shiny ice clouds behind him.

''Just look at those sparkles of icy glitter! Manny is doing perfectly well!''

When he arrived close enough, he charged towards the Corconaw.

''Croconaw, ice punch!''

The gator pokémon's hand glew blue and hit Manny in the face.

''Swiiii!''

The Swinub fell harshly on the ground.

''Oh no! Croconaw stroke again with a surprise attack!''

"Damn" I muttered to my self.it did not do much damage but ruined a good attack i had to think fast.

"Manny Surround your self in a powder snow attack then bring him into it once in it use tackle full power!"

A cloak of snow swirled from Manny's mouth and surrounded him in a sphere blocking Croconaw's view of him and just as planned Manny brought Croconaw into the cloak and he went for the tackle once again.

[Chronos]

There was a silence. Everybody was waiting to see how it would end. 10 seconds left. The ball of snow was stil twirling, but no one could see what was happening. Carchar already lost 2 points for the beautiful snowball swinub created.

9, 8, 7...

Carchar was waiting, quietly.

6, 5, 4...

''The suspense is thriling!''

3...

The snow sphere stopped moving and turned completely into ice.

2...

Croconaw was propelled out of the sphere, making the ice shatter into millions of pieces.

1...

Croconaw fell on the ground, Manny was up on his four feet.

''The battle is over ladies and gentlemen!!!''

The crowd roared.

''Let us see the final score!''

My heart sank and i yelled as i ran up to Manny picking him up our first contest.Who ever would of thought we would be then ones to win it.I Got up to the stage where the judges waited to give us our ribbon.
