Leone's Choice

With a full stomach and the urge to travel the world to become a Pokemon Master, Leone arrived hastily in the Professor's lab. As he entered, he was seen by his father and his other co-workers.

"Hey son! I see you've arrived just in time. The Professor was really ecstatic to give you your first Pokemon" his father said to him.

"I'm excited myself, dad! Can you do me a favor, though? I want you to see me off as I go to Route 1. Can you?" he asked like a little child.

"Of course, Leo."

He was escorted by his father to a smoked-glass door with a plaque that says "Prof. Oak".

"Go get 'em, Leo!" his father encouraged him.

"I will, dad." he replied

*Well, here goes nothing*

knock, knock

[Chronos]

Some strange noises came from inside, followed by a loud crash, a thump, and some words that Leo couldn't get. There was a silence... then some footsteps, and, finally, the door opened.

"Well, hello there mister Storm!"

It was professor Oak, standing there, some scratches on his face, trying to hide his panting with some deep breath.

"I had some trouble with the..."

He stopped and noticed the little boy.

"Why... Is this your son, Storm? Hello, kidow, your daddy told me alot about you! It's Leone, isn't it? If I am not mistaken, you are looking forward to become a trainer, aren't you?"

The professor was smiling.

"I guess you are here for the usual then! A new friend and a starter's bundle! Now, now... Come in little mister, I'm going to ask you some questions about what you wish your first pokemon to be. Storm, I'll see you for that (he pointed one of his scarring scratches) matter later. I'm burrowing your son for now!"

He winked at Leo's father.

The office was all white, with wooden bookshelves and all sorts of machines. Some pokeballs stood here and there. One particular ball - a blue, red and white ball was on prof Oak's desk.

"You can sit here, Leo."

He pointed a leather chair, while he went sitting on the other side of his desk.

"I have a simple question for you: what are you expecting your pokemon to be?"

Leone expected that question from the Professor, but he never really thought really well about it.

"Well, I've been really wanting a versatile water-type, but then, I would like to have a fire-type, but that means I'm gonna have trouble capturing a strong-willed rock-type. What about a flying-type? No. I've been thinking about capturing an electric-type and..." he stopped arguing with himself as he noticed the Professor smiling at him.

"Um, would you mind if you just show me which Pokemon I would choose from?" Leone said, blushing red with embarrassment.

[Chronos]

Professor Oak laughed.

"Haha! Leo, you are a very smart boy! Of course, I could show you some pokemons I have here for the usual beginners... But I'd like you to consider this..."

He looked at the blue-ish pokeball on his desk.

"I have known your father for some time now. Did you know his favorite type was electric? Some coincidence with his last name, eh? Anyways... Your father wanted me to get you this particular pokemon. As a gift. But he asked me to tell you that you should not be influenced by his choice. He doesn't want you to feel obliged to have this pokemon."

Prof Oak was staring at the ball.

"This is a great ball, Leo. It is used to capture pokemons a bit more powerful than usual. This creature gave me a lot of trouble, but I finally got it. It is a bit high tempered but I feel that it can strongly bond with someone. It is, of course, an electric-type. An electric-type that knows a fighting move, which could be useful if you want to capture a rock-type, like you said before. Do you want to see it, or would you rather choose from some starters I have in my suitcase?"

*A Great Ball?* he thought *That means this must be a pretty powerful Pokemon!*

"Sure, Professor! But I'd like to know exactly what this Pokemon is..." Leone said.

Leo's eyes widened and his hands clenched to a fist, signifying that Leo was eager to find out exactly what the Pokemon was. Like the Professor said, it was a gift from his father, and like the good son that he is, he just couldn't refuse the offer given by the nice Prof.

[Chronos]

Prof Oak grinned.

"Very well, Leo. I will ask you to stand up and take a step backward."

The professor stood up as well and took the pokeball from the desk.

"Discover yourself."

He looked at Leo, nodded as a sign of readiness, and threw the ball.

The blue-ish sphere quickly rotated in the air with grace, fell on the ground and opened.

A golden beam came out and took form...

"Eeeeeeon!"

A jolteon was standing right were the beam was a second ago. Its fur was golden and shaped in spikes. It was looking straight at Leo with its dark eyes.

"I present you, Jolteon!"

As the beam revealed a creature that had golden spiky fur all over it, Leo took a step back.

"Eeeeeeon!"

"I present you, Jolteon!" the Professor said.

It was staring at Leo with its dark eyes. It seemed as if the Jolteon was angry of getting a new master.

"It seems a little bit agressive......I like it!" Leo exclaimed ecstatically.

"It will be great in battles! I'll definitely take it!"

But deep inside, Leo feared that things might not go very well with his new Pokemon...

[Chronos]

"You are a very courageous boy, Leo. Just like your father! I am happy you like him (it is a male), I'm sure your dad will be too!. Would you like to give him a name?"

The jolteon did not want to sit. It was standing, ready for anything. But the look he was giving to Leo, shifted. It didn't seem that angry anymore.

"Usually, Jolteons learn the Double Kick attack when they grow stronger, but I was surprised to see that this one already knew it!"

Leone obtained Jolteon!

"Thank you very much, Professor!" Leo gratified Prof. Oak.

"I think I'm gonna call him 'Storm', and I also think kepping him out for a while will help our friendship grow stronger, isn't that right Prof?"


The professor nodded. Storm was still staring at Leo but not in the same 'angry' way like he did a while ago. Leo liked the way it already knows 'Double Kick', 'cause he thinks that means this Jolteon is special and will be sure to help him fulfill his dreams.

"Well, Storm. From now on, you'll be traveling with me. Is that okay with you?" Leo asked the not-so-angry-anymore Jolteon.

"Eeeeon!" it replied

"I guess that's a 'yes'!" he exclaimed.

"Thanks again, Professor!"
