On Route 201

Ivy and Sky continued their walk on the dirt road leading away from Ivy's home town. Ivy couldn't wait for her first contest, but she knew she had to train her Altaria first.
"OK Sky, fly up past the trees and see if you can spot some wild Pokémon," Ivy said.
"Altaria!" Sky sang as it flapped her cloud like wings and took to the air.

[Chronos]

As the Altaria flew high in the sky, a funny sound came from behind Ivy. The grass was moving fast and a suttle scent of ash came to Ivy's nose. Sky had also smelled it, for it was flying toward the moving grass. The Altaria let out a quick cry.

The grass burst into small flames.

"Grrr... Oww..."

A Growlithe was standing right where the flames were a second ago. It was looking directly into Ivy's eyes, as if it was challenging her.

"Look Sky it's a Growlithe!" Ivy said.
She pulled out her Pokédex and opened it up. She pointed the device at Growlithe and the Pokédex started to speak.

"Growlithe the Puppy Pokémon. Growlithe are very loyal to their Trainer. It will fearlessly bark at any opponent to protect it's own Trainer from harm," The Pokédex said.

"Wow we need this Pokémon on our team," Ivy said, "OK Sky use a Astonish and Peck combo attack on Growlithe!"
"Altaria!" Sky cried out as it swooped down from the clouds directly at Growlithe.

[Chronos]

Sky's horrifying astonish caused Growlithe to flinch, which gave the Altaria's peck full power. The dragon's beak hit directly the dog's chest, making it squeel. Growlithe was thrown backwards from the attack.

''Growww...!''

But it got back up quickly, it wasn't enough to capture him. Growlithe, moving fastly, threw an ember attack at the Altaria.

"That's a good start Sky!" Ivy said. "OK dodge that Ember attack and then strike back with a Pluck and Peck combo maneuver!"
"Altaria!" Sky cried as it started to spin in circles in attempt to dodge the hot orbs of fire coming from Growlithe's mouth.

[Chronos]

Growlithe's attack was too fast. In spite of Sky's dexterity, the ember hit one of its wings. But it didn't stop the Altaria. Gaining speed, it hit Gorwlithe again with Peck, then plunged back using pluck.

The Growlithe was wounded badly, though it was still standing, ready to fight back. But it was breathing strongly... Maybe a pokeball would work now?

''Growl!''

"Good job Sky!" Ivy cried, "OK you can come back to me."
Sky swooped down and landed next to her Trainer who was rummaging through her brown satchel. After a few seconds Ivy withdrew a Pokéball and made it bigger.
"OK go Pokéball!" Ivy said as she tossed it at the Growlithe.

[Chronos]

The ball flew all the way to the wounded Growlithe, opened and lasered the pokemon in with a red beam. It then closed and fell on the ground, moving.

Right nudge.

Left nudge.

Right nudge.

The wild GROWLITHE was caught!

"We did it!" Ivy said as she picked up the Pokéball containing the newly caught Growlithe.
"Altaria!' Sky chirped.
"OK now that we have a Growlithe let's continue our journey," ivy said as she tucked the Pokéball in her satchel.
